Facility Services

The mission of Facility Services is to provide a safe and secure learning and working environment for students, faculty, staff, administrators, and visitors.

Facility Services strives to provide adequate physical facilities for all of Wake Tech's programs, services, and mission related activities.  The College has taken a number of planning and design steps under the guidance of the Facilities Services Division to provide for long range planning.  The division also uses contracted services to aid its operations and maintenance activities.

The division is responsible for maintaining operations of the buildings, upkeep of the grounds, housekeeping, oversight of design and construction of all renovation and capital building projects, security operations, parking and traffic, and Environmental Health and Safety.  The Facilities Engineering Officer maintains the budgets for all bonded construction projects, the approval process for these, and plans for and creates requests to the County Budget Office for future projects as needed.  This position also has oversight for property (land and buildings) acquisitions and leasing, solicitation, selection and management of designers, contractors and testing engineers for projects and properties.  This office is responsible for all HUB reporting pertaining to construction and bond money cash flow reports to NCCCS.

In addition to day-to-day oversight of operations for buildings and grounds, the Facility Manager solicits bids from contractors for smaller informal construction and maintenance projects and manages these projects.  The Facility Manager and Assistant Facility Managers also have day-to-day responsibility for the management of construction projects.
